The Historical City of Perrysburg has a population of roughly 19,000 residents. It is home to Fort Meigs , the largest reconstructed wooden walled fortress in the nation. Fort Meigs was a real battleground during the War of 1812 and now brings history to life with its maintained park-like environment and museum. Fort Meigs is a popular destination for school field trips and tourists. Perrysburg was named after Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry who led the British from Lake Erie back in 1812. A statue in his honor is still displayed along the Maumee River banks.

Modern conveniences are not lost in this historic location. The recently constructed Levis Commons is an upscale town center featuring many shops, restaurants, a 12-screen movie theatre and also lavish living spaces.
